Gone Home

Last night, shortly after 3:00 AM, Bill found his way through the valley where he no longer lingers under the shadow of death. We are so very thankful that  the Lord heard the cries of his heart to take him HOME.

As Bill often said, "Heaven is a wonderful place!"

                                                                         With love,
                                                                                      The Versteeg Family

  4. Our thoughts and prayers are for you today. We think of the electric candle at Maple Hill Hospice that now shines in honor of Pastor Bill. It represents the love of Jesus that shone through Bill. With love, the Molenkamps

  5. it was still shocking to read today of Bill's passing through the valley. It certainly is bitter sweet. We are thankful that he suffers no more pain, but he will be greatly missed.
Thank you for sharing these past 5 weeks. We rejoiced with you in the glimpses of the humor and hurt with you in the incredible pain he endured. With love - the Jaspers - Thunder Bay

Rev. 21:1-5 "Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

  10. How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!"

I left Bill’s bedside on Thursday night, just hours before his death. He was deep in sleep. The sheet covered all of his body, except his head and feet. I remarked what beautiful feet Bill had. Judy agreed. “Bill always had beautiful feet.” Yesterday Judy told me that Naomi had left Bill’s feet exposed after he had passed away and the hospice quilt had been placed over his body.

I have been thinking about Bill’s feet; and this passage from Isaiah came to mind. How fitting. This was Bill’s mission in life.

  11. Bill has gone to be with His Heavenly Father. All of us at Surrey Christian are comforted by this thought; but your loss will remain painful for a long time.
The Surrey Christian school staff, during this past month, has been in prayer for the family. This past Friday, when the three campuses of Surrey Christian School met together in retreat, you were not forgotten in our prayers and thoughts.
Judy, we will continue to uphold you and your family in prayer as a school community. We will be there for you wherever possible.
    Love you,
    Jackie Van Huizen

  12. With great sadness we read of our Pastor's homegoing. He has always been a true pastor, caring for his flock. Heaven is indeed rejoicing, yet, here Pastor Bill will be greatly missed! Bram and Delores Koole
