Saturday

This last night for Dad was very rough. His medications were not handling his pain and he was suffering. Our palliative care team recommended that Dad be given Ativan, a sedative drug. This drug should take Dad away from his pain, but it also will take him away from us. This morning he was given Ativan, and we are told that it is unlikely that he will be responsive anymore. We ask at this time that visiting with him be reserved for family only.

Please pray that the Lord take him in peace.

  11. We are holding you and your family up in prayer during this difficult time. It is with a heavy heart to know that our brother is going through so much pain but we also have a wonderful peace knowing that he will be with our Lord and Savior. As we look to our Father in heaven, may He grant you his everlasting peace and surround you with His loving arms. Love in Christ our Saviour, Eric and Ruby Rayment , Edmonton, Alberta

  12. Psalm 23
    The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
    He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

    May you feel the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ wrapped around you, holding you tight during this time.

    In Christ,

  13. I'd like to share something I came across when my Dad went home to be with the Lord. I remember his tears and this song says it so well:

    Grandpa's Song - adapted from Psalm 56
    Chorus:
    Each tear that falls is precious
    God counts them one by one
    And stores them in a bottle
    To give comfort, peace and love.
    Verse 1:
    In God I put my trust
    I shall not be afraid
    Your promises surround me
    My thanks I give to You.
    Verse 2:
    You've kept my soul from death
    It has no hold on me
    You are God of my life
    I pledge it all to You.
    Verse 3:
    You've kept my feet from stumbling
    You've lit a path for me
    That I may walk before You
    And ever praise Your name.

    Thanks Bill, for all you've been to us, our Pastor, our good friend, our brother in Christ.

  16. Dear Bill,Judy and family,
    We join with our whole community as we watch and pray with you in these difficult days and hours. We often end our day with reading from the Divine Hours. In the Evening Prayers, there is a petition that we find especially poignant in these days as we remember all of you.

    "Watch O Lord with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight, and give Your angels and saints charge over those who sleep. Tend Your sick ones, O Lord Christ. Rest Your weary ones. Bless Your dying ones. Soothe Your suffering ones. Shield Your joyous ones, and all for Your Love's sake. Amen."

    May God continue to hold you close in his arms of love as you walk these last days together with Him.

  18. Bill, Judy and family,
    Our hearts are heavy at the thought of losing you Bill, our pastor and friend- and yet we know He holds you in His arms. The song Closing Prayer has been in my head tonight and I thought I'd add the words here. May you all be surrounded with His love and peace in these last days.

    With much love,
    Rob and Mona

    A Closing Prayer

    The time has come, O Lord, for us to leave this place;
    Guide us and protect us and lead us in thy grace;
    Wherever life may take us as we go our separate ways;
    help us share with others the things we’ve shared today;
    May the peace of God the Father and the love of Christ his Son
    Guide us in the days ahead and strengthen us each one;
    May the blessing of the Spirit fill us from within;
    God bless us and return us to this fellowship once again. Amen.
